When I met Kaily she was a shy, skinny pup who had just arrived on a transport from West Virginia. She was skin and bones, but absolutely beautiful. She was shaking, but her eyes were sparkling with hope. I gave her some gentle pets and a hug, then kept her name in mind for a future foster.
Kaily went into foster with another family before I worked my way down my list. She started to come into her own with her new doggie pal Emma. She gained weight and her coat started to get shiny and sleek. She remained shy with strangers and went into shutdown mode at chaotic adoption events, but with another dog at her side she started to grow more confident. She even played at the dog park!
When her foster needed to take a break, I was happy to take over. Tomorrow is my first night as Kaily's official foster! I am so excited to watch her grow into the beautiful dog that I saw in her eyes that first day.
